I was looking for an ultraportable way of creating music while I'm on the go, and found LSDJ, which is a Gameboy ROM musical tracker that can be played either directly on a device that has a ROM emulator like the Anbernic RG35XXSP or put onto a ROM card like the Everdrive and played on an actual Gameboy (or similar, I use an Analogue Pocket).
It is very limited, but if I get something I like I can use RetroPlug to run an emulator as a VST and record the sound into Bitwig, which is the DAW I am using currently.
